Blue Ridge feather ROCK the pipe

This pipe was no great find - it has the bottom of the heel sawed or broken off. But it was first time I had ever seen or known of these pipes having a unique box and brochure. Of course, I had to have it. Thomas Fink's auction on eBay led to some very spirited bidding, but I prevailed at an exorbitant price. Even so, as the only box extant that I know of and with unique literature it was well worth it. As a result of this find, A History of the pipe required major revision and the Literature Enclosed with the pipe page also had to be revised. I gave the pipe to my friend and fellow collector, Rick Osborn, and put #428, which is a perfect un-smoked Green Blue Ridge pipe, in this box. Probably not the best curatorial practice, but seemed sensible to me. Pipe Photo
